Dear (((EveryBit))) Readers,

May is here! We celebrate Memorial Day, a particularly important day, we honor and pay tribute to our heroes, the amazing people who gave their lives for our freedom! We cannot ever forget those who sacrificed themselves for us. I thank and celebrate our heroes. We also celebrate our precious and beloved moms on Mother’s Day.

Celebrating Memorial Day always makes me feel more American than usual. There is nothing more All-American than the veggie burger, and there is nothing better than enjoying a delicious, gourmet, and cruelty-free meal; that is why I decided to share a delicious “Veggie Double-Decker Burger” recipe with you this month.

I am also going to talk about how the consumption of meat is responsible for viruses like the Coronavirus! Yes! It is really crazy to think that the consumption of meat is responsible for this never-seen-before world pandemic, maybe it’s time you reconsider eating meat and adopting a healthier and sustainable lifestyle. It’s good for you, it’s good for the animals, it’s good for the environment, it’s good for the planet!

A Glance at Vegetarianism: We are all suffering with the COVID-19 world pandemic, our finances are getting affected by it, our lifestyles are getting affected by it, the world is facing a never-seen-before pandemic, life as we know is on hold and we still don’t know when things will go back to normal (if they ever do), but we seem to forget that “normal” was already a crisis.

The consumption of meat is selfish, destructive, and extremely dangerous, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) says on its website that "3 out of every 4 new or emerging infectious diseases in people come from animals." and the WHO (World Health Organization) has said that eating "raw or undercooked animal products, including milk and meat" carries a potential risk for infection from Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS), another human coronavirus. The animal kingdom’s diseases, regardless of their origin, are an existential threat to humans. Three out of four emerging diseases in humans come from animals.

Zoonotic diseases like coronavirus infect 2.5 billion people every year. Even during unexceptional years, these pathogens kill approximately 2.4 million individuals—more than gun violence, car crashes, and drug abuse, combined. In recent weeks, we’ve seen that outbreaks have the ability to make stocks plunge and panic soar. In the coming weeks, we may see these anxieties justified.

Diseases do not recognize borders. Our response as a species must mirror that reality. Governments and individuals alike have a responsibility to take the actions within their control to prevent these catastrophes. Be the change you want to see in the world: GO VEGAN!

Quote of the Month: “COVID-19 would not exist if the world was vegan”

Recipe: Veggie Double-Decker Burger

All-American, easy to prepare, delicious and cruelty-free! The only vegetarian product you need for this recipe is the vegetarian burger patties, there is a HUGE variety of products to choose from, my two favorite products are: Grillers Original from Morning Star and the patties from Beyond Burger, I used Grillers Original from Morning Star for this recipe, you can find it at Publix, Whole Foods and many other stores, just check out the “Entrees” refrigerator of your preferred grocery store et voila!

Ingredients:

· Two Grillers Original Veggie Burger Patties

· Seeded burger buns

· 1 slice of onion

· 1 slice of tomato

· 3 chips of hamburger dill

· 6 slices of Cheddar cheese (three for each patty)

· Mayo

· Ketchup

· Yellow Mustard

· A hamburger sauce of your preference

Directions:

Microwave the patties for two minutes (one minute for each side), melt the cheese (40 seconds in the microwave will do the trick), spread the mayo on the buns and build the burger (patty, tomato, patty, onion, dill and sauces). Enjoy your All-American, cruelty-free burger!
